This short experimental film is an artistic-critical response to Paul Celan's poem "Death Fugue." It utilizes the aesthetics of German Expressionist film and the musical structure of the fugue to examine themes of alienation, isolation, and disillusionment. Each image has been assigned a 'voice' from Celan's poem. The film attempts to bring these individual voices in dialogue with each other to sketch and evoke feelings of loneliness and emptiness.
