Inspired by La Monte Young's Composition 1960 #10 ("Draw a straight line and follow it"), The Caterpillartist broadens human-centered understandings of art by calling attention to the creative and performative tendencies of the caterpillar. The animated short highlights the caterpillar's artistic impulse—the drive to "eat lines," to leave behind marks and traces.
